Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, as suggested by Priscilla, is something I have wanted to read for a long time. I wasn't sure it's too popular with the critics and therefore a hype.<br /><br />My only requirement is that the book is plot-driven. I know people have sort of lined up on either side for that book, but I think it sounds great. My magic pick would be a book I read around this time last year, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell.
