There is a
Montgomery Clift blog-a-thon today over at
Film Experience blog to commemorate his birthday. I don't have time to write a real post today but if you've never seen him at
Judgement at Nuremberg or
A Place in the Sun - or if you are interested in soul opening performances - he was a walking wound. Check out Sheila's contribution to the thon
here.
How about the little anecdote I found where he got a "bad haircut" before filming Judgment at Nuremberg - because he just knew that that character would get a special haircut for his day in court?
ReplyDeleteMeticulous. A meticulous actor.
Thanks for the link, Ted ... I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on him. Have you seen Red River?? His debut?
Hola!
ReplyDeleteMe alegro de que hayas recordado a Montgomery Clift, a great actor!
S & Z - a great actor indeed!
ReplyDeletes- that was a great story. his performance in that film is haunting. I haven't seen Red River. One for our next marathon, perhaps?
Ted - it's a date! To see John Wayne spar with Montgomery Clift (physically and verbally) ... in a Howard Hawks movie ... I mean, it's just delicious!!
