I second your vote for Berlin. Selling typewriter ribbons over the phone. That one really does date you. Dates me two because I can remember threading typewriter ribbons through my first typewriter and dealing with people selling me things over the phone.
ReplyDeleteI always tried to be polite.
Not to date myself further, but every time I write a paper on my computer with my bibliographic software (as I'm doing right now), I remember the days of writing them on my manual typewriter with carbon paper, and trying to judge how many lines I had to leave blank to fit in my footnotes!
ReplyDeleteIf you were one of my unfortunate customers in the 3 weeks I lasted in that job - I thank you.
