Happy Birthday Monty

There is a Montgomery Clift blog-a-thon today over at Film Experience blog to commemorate his birthday. I don't have time to write a real post today but if you've never seen him at Judgement at Nuremberg or A Place in the Sun - or if you are interested in soul opening performances - he was a walking wound. Check out Sheila's contribution to the thon here.

How about the little anecdote I found where he got a "bad haircut" before filming Judgment at Nuremberg - because he just knew that that character would get a special haircut for his day in court?

Meticulous. A meticulous actor.

Thanks for the link, Ted ... I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on him. Have you seen Red River?? His debut?

s- that was a great story. his performance in that film is haunting. I haven't seen Red River. One for our next marathon, perhaps?

Ted - it's a date! To see John Wayne spar with Montgomery Clift (physically and verbally) ... in a Howard Hawks movie ... I mean, it's just delicious!!
